Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) to join our Web 3 and deep-tech venture capital firm. The EIR will play a critical role in identifying high-potential investment opportunities within the Web3 and deep-tech ecosystems (80% of the time) and providing strategic guidance to our portfolio companies (20% of the time). This position is ideal for an accomplished entrepreneur or executive with deep expertise in Web 3 and emerging digital technologies and a passion for driving innovation.

Role and Responsibilities

Dealflow Generation (80%)

• Build and maintain a robust network within the Web 3 and deep-tech ecosystems, including startups, founders, developers, and industry influencers.
• Proactively identify and engage with promising startups, founders, and projects for investment consideration.
• Evaluate investment opportunities by conducting market research, assessing business models, and reviewing technical capabilities.
• Attend and participate in industry events, conferences, and meetups to enhance deal flow.
• Collaborate closely with the investment team to refine sourcing strategies and ensure alignment with the firm’s investment thesis.

Portfolio Advisory (20%)

• Provide hands-on strategic and operational support to portfolio companies, leveraging expertise in scaling, go-to-market strategies, and product development.
• Offer guidance on navigating challenges specific to Web 3 and deep-tech adoption, such as regulatory considerations, tokenomics, technical scalability etc.
• Act as a sounding board for founders, fostering growth and long-term success within the portfolio.
• Organise or participate in workshops, mentoring sessions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives for portfolio teams.

Skill Requirements

• Proven track record as an entrepreneur, founder, or senior executive in the Web3 and/or deep-tech space.
• Deep understanding of Web 3 technology, decentralised ecosystems, and other deep-tech and their related business models.
• Strong network within the Web 3 ecosystem and other deep-tech, including startups, investors, developers, and industry leaders.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate complex technical and financial information.
• Hands-on experience scaling startups, ideally with exposure to venture capital-backed businesses.
• Familiarity with the challenges of building blockchain-based solutions and deep-tech solutions, including compliance and technical hurdles.
