Technical Product Manager (Staff or Director level)
Hashgraph
About Hashgraph:
Hashgraph is a fast-growing software company committed to supporting, developing and servicing Hedera, an open source, proof-of-stake platform. Hedera is EVM-compatible and has been specifically built to meet the needs of enterprise and Web3 applications, which require speed, security, stability and sustainability. Hedera’s public network is governed by industry-leading organizations, spanning 11 sectors and 14 regions who oversee the development and direction of the decentralized platform.
About the role:
We’re hiring a hands-on, deeply technical product leader to own the roadmap for Hedera’s core services— Tokenization (FT/NFT/RWAs), Smart Contracts, Consensus, and the developer/data APIs (SDKs, Hedera APIs, Mirror nodes). This role is modeled after the “technical PM” archetype: you will be a peer to EMs/Staff Engineers, co-author specs and HIPs, build quick prototypes to evaluate product ideas, and deliver features with excellent documentation and delightful developer experience.
You will also operate in the open-source model - shaping public roadmaps, triaging GitHub issues in public repositories, engaging community contributors, and partnering closely with Developer Advocates (DAs) and Developer Relationship (DevRel) teams to turn real-world builder feedback into concrete requirements.
You may find yourself doing all of the following:
- Own the Core Services and Platform roadmap (HTS, Smart contracts/EVM, HCS, Platform, SDKs, Mirror nodes, and more), define goals and prioritize backlogs
- Co-author design docs and Hiero Improvement Proposals (HIPs) with Engineering Managers and architects; define fees, throttles, etc., ensure backward compatibility/migrations, and security constraints
- Prototype to evaluate product ideas (create sample apps and evaluate ideas) and shepherd features' inception to launch and iterate
- Operations: maintain roadmaps and milestones, triage/label GitHub issues, run design reviews, respond to discussions, and grow external contributors
- Partner with DAs/DevRel/Engineering: turn builder feedback into requirements, set content priorities (code labs, examples, workshops)
- Engage the community of builders: office hours, HIP shepherding, hackathons, community calls, forum/Discord/GitHub presence; convert common pain points into code fixes or docs
- Readiness & quality: lead launch reviews, incident postmortems, and backward-compatibility plans; coordinate with Security on disclosure/CVEs and with the Release team on monthly release planning/execution
Qualification Requirements:
- 8–12+ years in Product Management (or equivalent), including 5+ years on deeply technical platforms (distributed systems, cloud infra, databases, or blockchain)
- Credible partner to Engineering Managers and architects (you must be comfortable with design docs, tradeoffs, and reading and co-authoring code/design documents)
- Fluency with APIs/SDKs/back-end systems; You should be able to reason about consensus, transaction handling, state management, performance, concurrency, observability, usability, etc.
- Track record of shipping enterprise-grade software and developer platforms, with measurable outcomes
- Hands-on familiarity with at least one of Java/Kotlin/Go/TypeScript (readability > production-level coding and demo creations)
- Excellent written communication (specs, HIPs/RFCs) and customer discovery with both web3 and enterprise customers
Other skills that are great to bring with you but that we can help you develop:
- Experience in open-source leadership (maintainer, triage champion, release management)
- Prior exposure to Hedera or similar L1/L2 ecosystems
- Domain depth in one or more: tokenization/RWAs, DeFi primitives, payments, Smart Contracts, identity/DIDs, compliance, etc.
- Proven success partnering with DevRel/Developer Advocates to create content, samples, user guides, etc.
Preferred Work style:
- Open-source by default: plans, issues, and design discussions are public whenever feasible, except for unresolved security issues
- Closer partnership with Engineering: PMs sit in design/PR reviews, actively contribute, and iterate in thin, testable slices
- Builder-obsessed: we dogfood using solo (local development environment), prioritize developer experience, and deliver complete features with docs, examples, and migration paths
- Ecosystem-driven: we collaborate with a community of builders, Hedera Governing Council, partners, and customers to make pragmatic choices
