Job Description

Avery Dennison is seeking an Application Development Manager to join Avery Dennison’s Performance Polymers business. In this position, you will collaborate with the Sales, Technical, Supply Chain and Communications Teams on Industry & Customer needs assessment, new application development, product portfolio, project, & marketing management activities to drive profitable growth of the Performance Polymers business. We are looking for an individual that fits in well with our entrepreneurial team and is passionate about bold growth. You will report to the Performance Polymers Global Commercial Director. #LI-Remote

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage across the value chain to gather insight, understand industry & customer needs, assess prospective opportunities & uncover areas where AVY can provide unique value.

  • Understand industry trends, regulatory requirements, evolving industry standards, etc. to provide direction for product development, sales efforts, & competitive strategies.

  • Develop a deep understanding of target applications, and translate application requirements into performance & design criteria to guide product development & commercial efforts.

  • Interface regularly with customers & end users via calls, visits & external events to gather customer insights and steer the development of products & strategies to meet their needs.

  • Lead Business Development initiatives in targeted growth areas & collaborate with commercial, technical, & ops/supply chain teams to deliver new products & drive growth.

  • Leverage customer, end-user, & industry insights to build targeted product portfolios to serve key applications & develop segment-focused strategies to optimize growth & profitability.

  • Work with our sales, technical, and marketing communications team to create marketing campaigns, selling & training tools, website updates, & related collateral. Help lead the training of our sales team, customers, & end users on these items.

  • Identify new leads for the business using digital marketing, screening techniques, referrals, trade shows, etcetera and work with the commercial team to engage on these opportunities.

  • Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree - Ideally in Chemical Engineering or a comparable and relevant technical field.

  • 5+ years in either product management or related customer-facing technical support ideally in the adhesive & tape industry.

  • Strong analytical & problem solving skills.

  • Strong financial acumen and business insight with a consistent track record of results.

  • Demonstrated successful project leadership experience with outstanding teamwork, execution, and milestone-based management skills

  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization & generate support and momentum to consistently deliver results

Preferred:

  • Engineering undergraduate degree or experience working in a technical, business to business environment strongly preferred.

  • Strong technical and business acumen is highly preferred.

  • Direct customer-facing experience & strong selling skills.

Additional Information

The salary range for this position is $116,550 - $155,400 / year.


The hiring base salary range above represents what Avery Dennison reasonably expects to pay for this position as of the date of this posting.
