Job Description

The material handler is responsible for the movement of material throughout the site. This may include loading/unloading of trailers and movement of raw materials, work in process (WIP) and finished goods. This role will be 3rd Shift, 10P-6A.

Activities and duties may vary depending upon site-specific needs. Essential functions may include, but are not limited to:

  • Move material to/from raw, WIP, Finished, Shipping, Receiving, and manufacturing areas.
  • Unload/load trucks/tankers with incoming/outgoing materials. - Verify materials against receiving/shipping documents.
  • Complete appropriate transactions to document the movement of material within the Inventory Management System.
  • Complete warehouse and departmental cycles counts and correct discrepancies.
  • Help manage rack inventories.
  • Pick up and transfer material racks, pallets, and other consumable supplies to/from production areas as required.
  • Condense warehouse space and maintain good housekeeping.
  • Perform all assignments, duties, and tasks safely following standard procedures and practices. Encourage others to do so. Correct and/or report all unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Perform duties to improve quality and productivity continuously..
  • Maintain a safe, clean work area.
  • Assist in equipment maintenance activities as directed.
  • Communicate and coordinate necessary information to appropriate department/shift employees to ensure effective operations.
  • Lead in the recycling of pallets, cardboard, and scrap materials.
  • Support all 5S housekeeping activities.
  • Packing and palletizing, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) or 3+ years of relevant manufacturing work experience.
  • Willing to work overtime, including short-notice requests.
  • Ability to obtain Lift Truck Operator’s license.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
